“Family is the most important thing in the world.”
I asked my 11 year old daughter Sagey to do my roots to save time, money, energy and, well, truth is, I just don’t like going to hair salons. Yuck. Don’t like the energy there.
I have dark blonde hair and so we just needed to lift ‘em a little (above photo is me in my 20's when I had to dye my hair black for a shoot).
Off we went to Walgreens.
Got the wrong color. It was called “Light golden blonde — warmer” but was actually darker than my own hair. Oops. This was Thanksgiving eve.
Next morning (Thanksgiving) I communicated my intention of fixing my hair, that day. Sagey, a foodie who had been looking forward to Thanksgiving for months, was not down with this plan.
“Mommy,” she said, “We can fix it tomorrow.”
“But I don’t like it. I wanna fix it now,” I replied, as "instantitis" as ever. "I am never self conscious but even I notice that this looks weird."
“But you won’t see anyone today — it’s just us, the family, and we don’t care. We just love you as you are.”
Sigh. (They really don’t care — or even notice. They just love me. THIS, this is love).
BTW, as we were eating chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, our BNE (Best Neighbors Ever) popped over to borrow some flour (really, they did, so cliche' I know) and there I was, with my weird roots. Law of attraction is always at work. Give it attention, and it will be delivered to you -- at warp speed.
